Several decades of my work have centered on shaping how we treat the atmosphere: what we put into it; how we sense its effects on climate, health, ecosystems, and economies; and how we can build institutions and habits to better protect it.

I have worked with various parts of the Indian government, the U.S. government, and on regional and international initiatives including advising the Our Common Air Commission and serving twice on the WEF Global Futures Council for Clean Air.

I am currently co-chair of the Scientific Steering Committee of the WMO GAW Global Air Quality Forecasting and Information Services Initiative and I've chaired the Editorial Board for the 2025 and 2026 WMO Air Quality and Climate Bulletins.

I also co-chair the Oversight Committee for the UK ARIA Exploring Climate Cooling Program.
